Well, yours truly had another interesting Thanksgiving. Needless to say, I got stuffed! *rim shot*
And I am very thankful for all those cute throwback uniforms this weekend: Thank you, Cheaters, Lie-Downs, 'Boys, and the Bills who scored a huge upset Sunday (Stevie Johnson's tweet was hilarious!). And of course the Buckeyes who went all 1942 on Michigan. The numbers were a tad circusy but okay. And thanks to the Chiefs for the very stylish red pants and the Burgundyskins for the yellow pants, natch.
On the other hand, let me send out a big "No, thanks" to the Saints for the blah black pants, the Chargers for not wearing powder blue even once yet this year (WTF?!), the black-jerseyed Cardinals (Derek "Mood Swing" Anderson, you need to ask yourself, is it Low T?), and the ugliest game of the week, Black Friday's West Virginia-Pitt 'Backyard Brawl', which is exactly where both teams' unis should be buried! Patchy black and blue vs. camo-grey and yellow shoes? I'd rather have gone shopping at Wally World!
Last but not least, there was the 98th Grey Cup, which sadly I did not get in HD. But for you, dear readers, I went through the CFL video archives for the 2010 season, and I can now give you a full better-late-than-never rundown of the year in CFL fashion! So let's take a look at all 8 teams, ranked here from best- to worst-dressed, with a look at each team's best and worst looks...
1. SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS
At their best: Clean, basic, classic. Block numbers, no spooge.
At their worst: Not sure about the black bit on the shoulders, but still a good look (espesh with silver pants).
In their throwbacks: Strange. Looked more like the Stampeders. But also, still good. (Bonus points for the coaching staff's Norwegian curling team pants.)
2. BRITISH COLUMBIA LIONS
At their best: Canadian-style creamsicles!
At their worst: All black? With spooge? Um, no. Lose these things.
In their throwbacks: The black numbers are an interesting add, and the helmets are way cool.
3. WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS
At their best: Royal blue and gold is the bomb!
At their worst: All dark blue copies a bad look from their lookalikes, the Rams.
In their throwbacks: The gold jerseys are precious! (And even better with royal blue pants.)
4. EDMONTON ESKIMOS
At their best: In yellow pants, just like the Packers. (And with white jerseys, the ol' Jello 123.)
At their worst: Dark green pants. Also, the numbers are shrinky-dinked.
In their throwbacks: Better than the Pack!
5. TORONTO ARGONAUTS
At their best: Not great, but spoogeless.
At their worst: Non-block numbers, and dark blue pants. Da Bears you ain't!
In their throwbacks: They've had better throwbacks, but still okay.
6. MONTREAL ALOUETTES
At their best: Well, at least they have block numbers.
At their worst: Rotten colors, as boxy as the Bills, and spooge on the pants. Merde.
In their throwbacks: What a pretty blue! Too bad they are stealing this look from the original Als.
7. CALGARY STAMPEDERS
At their best: Red jerseys and no spooge.
At their worst: In black pants, espesh with white jerseys. And the number font is awful.
In their throwbacks: Throw in the silver and now you've got something!
And finally, I know this will shock you, and it totally breaks my heart, but there's just no escaping the fact that the current worst-dressed team in the CFL is my beloved...
8. HAMILTON TIGER-CATS
At their best: Black and yellow color combo as befits the Pittsburgh of Canada.
At their worst: Bad non-block numbers and spooge all over the sides, made even worse when they wear all black. (It's so bad Duxoop may even trade in his Ti-Cats hat for Sasky or BC.)
In their throwbacks: The best uniform in CFL history. Please go back to it! PLEASE!!!
