MR. COLOREDWELL'S SPORTS FASHION REPORT

Hi there! Boy is my plate full...all 4 of the major pro sports in action, plus college gridders, and college cagers not far off. Time for me to combine them all in one big sweaty weekly recap.

THIS WEEK'S FASHION HIGHLIGHTS:

* We got our first official look at Syracuse in HD, with their lovely orange pants, reminiscent of the old Browns look. The Orange do orange right!

* Clemson wore a fabulous combo this week, purple jerseys and orange pants. They do purple AND orange right!

Pic Of The Week: Clemson's cute color combo

* You didn't think I forgot hockey, did you? Worry not, Mr. C has been keeping track, and the champs in Chicago are looking splendid as ever, as are the Red Wings, Flyers, and Bruins, all sporting solid classic unis.

* And the NBA began their season last night, with the Celtics and Lakers still frontrunners in fashion, although the Houston Rockets certainly had an interesting color combo, all rocket red with silver trim.

THIS WEEK'S FASHION LOWLIGHTS:

* The Chargers are still eschewing light blue for dark blue, and against the N.E. Cheaters I almost couldn't tell the teams apart. How sad.

* The Oregon Ducks wore yet another disastrous color combo last week, this time yellow jerseys with black pants, and still have that horrible number font that looks like it was designed by the same crayon-wielding 'learning-impaired' 5-year-old who designed the old Toledo Storm logo.

* The Cincinnati Bearcats also tried an alternate color combo, red jerseys with black pants, but nothing works given their fundamentally-flawed design.

* Another game where it was hard to tell the teams apart: Notre Dame v Navy. Copy each other much?

* The Hoosiers out-uglied the Illini in a spooge-fest, thanks to what looks like duct tape on the back of their red pants.

* Drapes matching the carpet is okay, but not your football uniform, Boise State! Tom Thayer was right when he called that the biggest cheat in sports. I wouldn't mind so much if it were a pretty blue. It's not. It always looks like it just rained there. And when it DOES rain it looks even worse!

* Meanwhile, in the baseball playoffs, the unis worn during the ALCS and NLCS were just as boring as the sport itself. Except for Game 1 when Texas wore red jerseys, it was all white and grey, with occasional pinstripes. Yawn! Safe to say in the WS, San Fran will be the better-dressed team. Let's just hope they break out their delicious creamsicle look!

* In the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche sport both shitty colors and shitty numbers, and are already in the cellar in the fashion standings. Plus, I detest non-plural team nicknames! And San Jose is still wearing the dreaded black and teal that just about every major sports team that started up in the 90s wears. The original bad sports fashion trend.

* Finally, the Miami Heat wore all black last night. How fitting for the new villains of the sports world.

And now, all the standings....
(Notes: Any team not listed is 0-0. All NFL and NHL teams are currently wearing Reebok. I have yet to see any brand logos on MLB or NBA uniforms.)
